This greenhouse painting was created in the same corridor as the Chrysanthemum greenhouse, only during the cool morning light of early spring. I was drawn to the contrast and play of shapes and so many subtle colors throughout, but especially as composed by a rich and whimsical collection of overlapping white Streptocarpus blossoms that were subtly back-lit and punctuated by a dramatic line of bright scarlet African daisies. Early spring light has a unique quality that is hard to express, but something in the glowing colors and in the softness of the reflections and shadows throughout this piece captures that particular light for me.
